Surgical Excision Versus Ultrasound-Guided Treatment of Symptomatic Wrist Ganglia in Pediatric Patients

Background: Multiple treatments exist for pediatric patients presenting evaluation of wrist ganglia, most commonly surgical excision or percutaneous treatment. Treatment modality is often dictated by patient preference and recurrence rate. Compared with adult literature, treatment outcomes ganglia in children are less examined. This study examines rates after ultrasound-guided (USGT) a population.
 Methods: A retrospective referred from January 2015 to February 2020 at single-center children’s hospital was performed. Patients aged 0 – 18 years minimum 1-year follow-up either USGT were included.
 Results: 69 underwent 15 (22%) experiencing recurrence. 77 26 (34%) There no statistical difference between the two groups (p = .140). 30 146 (20.5%) subsequent procedure where (60%) experienced recurrence, 4 (13%) 8 (26%) had insufficient follow-up. All 7 treated clinic without ultrasound guidance required intervention.
 Conclusion: reasonable choice has non-inferior rate excision. For that require treatment, similar Parents should be educated about options rates, have age-appropriate involvement management decisions regarding ganglia.
